Ravi Ahuja was named chief executive of Sony Pictures last January, stepping up from his role as chairman of the Culver City-based entertainment company’s Global Television Studios division, a position he had held since 2021. Under his leadership, Sony Pictures doubled down on gaming adaptations, franchise-led content and anime. In January, Netflix and Sony Pictures announced a global licensing deal that made Netflix the exclusive worldwide streamer for Sony Pictures’ feature films. Sony Pictures laid off hundreds of employees in April this year, as part of a strategic realignment of the studio to its growth areas. Before joining Sony Pictures, Ahuja served as president of business operations and chief financial officer of Walt Disney Television.
