Chief Executive
The Walt Disney Co.
Josh D’Amaro officially stepped up as Disney’s chief executive in mid-March, succeeding long-term Disney head Bob Iger, with Dana Walden as president and chief content officer.
The former chairman of Disney Experiences led the company’s largest and fastest-growing segment before joining the C-suite. That segment generated $36 billion in annual revenue last fiscal year and includes 12 theme parks and 57 resort hotels worldwide. The Burbank-based entertainment giant is merging its streaming assets, Hulu and Disney+, into one platform and launching new physical locations, including an upcoming resort in Abu Dhabi and a recent “Frozen”-inspired theme park area in Paris. Last year’s “Zootopia 2” and live-action adaptation “Lilo & Stitch” grossed over $1 billion worldwide. Disney’s first-quarter earnings this year posted 5% year-over-year revenue growth at roughly $26 billion, beating Wall Street’s expectations of $25.7 billion.
During his nearly three decades at the entertainment conglomerate, D’Amaro has held various positions across the company’s global operations, including roles in finance, business strategy, marketing, creative development and operations. He led some of Disney’s most celebrated achievements, such as the launch of Avengers Campus. He also championed collaborations with leading technology companies in robotics, animatronics and games. D’Amaro graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor of
science in business administration.
