Mark Motonaga is a creative director and partner at Rios, where he integrates architecture, landscape architecture and urban design. He joined Rios in 2009 and holds a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Pennsylvania. Motonaga is a consistent advocate for mass timber and sustainable construction. Among his highest-profile current commissions, Rios unveiled the design for 4.5 acres of publicly accessible botanical gardens at One Beverly Hills in 2025, part of the $10 billion development anchored by an Aman Hotel. Rios also completed Sony Pictures’ Mid-Wilshire creative campus.
