As the chief executive of Los Angeles World Airports since February 2024, John Ackerman steers one of the world’s most complex systems amid a transformative period. With LAX and Van Nuys airports under his watch, he has managed a $30 billion capital improvement program designed to elevate the passenger experience ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup – which kicks off this June – and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Ackerman brings more than 30 years of aviation industry experience, having previously served as executive vice president of goal strategy and development at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. Before that, he was chief commercial officer at Denver International Airport.
