Neela Hummel began her career at Abacus Wealth Partners as an intern in 2009 and has since become the sole chief executive of the Santa Monica-based registered investment advisor, which manages approximately $3 billion in assets. Until May 2025, Hummel shared the top spot with co-CEO Mary Beth Storjohann, who stepped down from the role. During her tenure, Hummel has championed values-aligned investing, launched the Abacus Sisterhood initiative and developed an industry-leading parental leave policy that has resulted in more than 50% of partners being women. Named Investment News “40 Under 40” honoree, Hummel also co-hosts the “If Money Were Easy” podcast, widely cited for its focus on financial accessibility.
