Bruce Karsh is co-chair and chief investment officer at Brentwood-based Oaktree, the private equity firm he co-founded with longtime partner Howard Marks in 1995. He retained his senior leadership roles at the firm following its $ 3 billion acquisition by Brookfield Asset Management in October 2025. Karsh and Marks built Oaktree into a leading debt investor with more than $220 billion in assets under management. Before founding Oaktree, Karsh served as managing director of TCW Asset Management Company, where he managed the Special Credit Funds portfolios from 1988 to 1995. He is a minority owner of the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Football Club.
