Lourd joined CAA in 1988 and was one of the trio of partners who took it over in 1995. He was named chief executive of the talent-agency stalwart after helping broker the sale of a majority stake to French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault’s Artémis investment firm in 2023, a deal valuing CAA at some $7 billion. The agency is home to such A-list clients as Tom Cruise, Scarlett Johansson and George Clooney. Lourd serves on the board of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City, Community Organized Relief Effort and he’s a trustee for the American Film Institute. In 1996, Lourd and his partners created the CAA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the agency. Its efforts are focused on public education, civic engagement, health care, social issues and more.
