Bjork remains in charge of the nearly 270 attorneys at Latham & Watkins’ Los Angeles operation, one of the four largest in the county. Formerly the global vice chair of the firm’s restructuring and special situations practice, he is a leading attorney in corporate restructuring deals. Bjork is frequently hailed among the top attorneys in his practice area by legal publications. Outside of work, he is a member of the Pepperdine University Board, which offers guidance to the private university. Recent deals Bjork helped curate include a complete divestiture of asbestos-related liabilities by Canadian valve maker Velan Inc. to an affiliate of Global Risk Capital, to the tune of $143 million.
