Mazziotta is the top official for UCLA Health, overseeing the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine with its 3,400 faculty members and the UCLA health system with its 35,000-plus employees at four hospitals – the flagship Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital and the Stewart and Lynda Resnick Psychiatric Hospital – and more than 250 outpatient facilities. In his role as vice chancellor of UCLA Health Sciences, Mazziotta is overseeing the development of the California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy at a UCLA research park planned for the former Westside Pavilion shopping mall in Westwood, which UCLA bought for $700 million.
