Dean, Marshall School
of Business
USC
Garrett was appointed dean of the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California in 2020. That appointment came after his tenure at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as the dean for six years, ended. Garrett entered the role under tenuous circumstances – his predecessor, James Ellis, left the school in 2018 after 11 years due to controversies surrounding his response to sexual harassment and discrimination claims. During Garrett’s first year as dean, the school achieved gender parity for the incoming admitted students. The Marshall School of Business also certified all its undergraduate programs under the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) designation.Â
