Beck became the sixth president and fourth consecutive female president of California State University – Northridge in 2021. Under her leadership, the school adopted what it calls an equity-centered strategic plan, launching the Global Hispanic Serving Institution Equity Innovation Hub and participating in record-breaking donations. The school ranked as the ninth-best university in the country for improving the economic and social mobility of its students, per the College Futures Foundation in February. Prior to assuming the presidency and overseeing over 40,000 students and employees, Beck was the president of California State University – Channel Islands for four years, where she developed a plan that led to more enrollment in the school.
