Batrack has been with Tetra Tech since 1980 and was named chief executive in 2005 and chair in 2008. During his tenure as chief executive, Tetra Tech’s annual revenue has more than tripled to $5.2 billion last year, while its employee count has also more than tripled to about 27,000 spread across 550 offices around the globe. Tetra Tech has continued to rack up contract wins, both solo contracts and pieces of nine or ten-figure contracts awarded to multiple firms; this has propelled the company’s project backlog to a record $5.4 billion as of Dec. 30. But during the first quarter, Tetra Tech lost $1.1 billion of that backlog when the administration of President Donald Trump shut down the U.S. Agency for International Development, which had been the company’s largest client.
