Johnson is the chair and chief executive of Magic Johnson Enterprises, an investment group focusing on ethnically diverse and underserved urban communities. The former basketball star made history in 2023 when he became co-owner of the Washington Commanders, a National Football League franchise. The $6.05 billion deal was the highest purchase price for any U.S. professional sports team to date. Johnson is a co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Sparks, the Los Angeles Football Club and eSports franchise Team Liquid. In January, he joined forces with LA28 chair and president Casey Wasserman and Dodgers Chair Mark Walter to create LA Rises, a private-sector recovery initiative to help those impacted by the fires.
