As president and chief operating officer of Kayne Anderson, an investment firm in Century City, Blank oversees day-to-day operations and serves as the firm’s universal investment committee member. He also manages Kayne Anderson’s operating committee and serves as the portfolio manager and capital allocator on cross-strategy strategic relationships. In April, the firm committed more than $400 million in equity to South Wind Exploration & Production, a newly launched oil and natural gas company. Typically, Kayne Anderson focuses on real estate, credit, energy infrastructure and energy private equity. Prior to rising to this position, Blank started at the firm in 1999 as an energy analyst. He left to start a political strategy firm.
