Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. late Tuesday said it has acquired majority ownership of an Indian civil engineering company.
The purchase of Consulting Engineering Services Private Ltd. gives the Pasadena engineering company a major presence in India. CES is a power, infrastructure, and civil engineering company based in Delhi and employs more than 2,000 people. The combination nearly doubles Jacobs’ existing resources and capabilities in India to more than 4,500 employees and expands its presence in other regions in Asia and the Middle East. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Jacobs established a presence in India with the 1993 purchase of Humphreys and Glasgow. It has collaborated on projects with CES for several years.
“This combination makes us one of the largest consulting, engineering and construction forces in India,” Chief Executive Officer Craig Martin said in a statement.
Shares earlier closed up 68 cents, or 1.5 percent, to $46.06 on the New York Stock Exchange.
