Leader of Manatt’s Health Care Litigation practice, Ileana Hernandez is the go-to adviser for health insurance and managed care organizations facing the gamut of complex litigation issues. While many liti-gators settle cases before they make it to a courtroom, Ileana is a true trial lawyer known for guiding clients through every stage of litigation – from pre-litigation counseling through trial and appeal – and she represents clients in state and federal courts, mediations, arbitra-tions and administrative hearings. Hernandez’s recent representations include suc-cessfully defending Health Net from a lawsuit seeking an eight-figure award in damages. She also co-led the Manatt team representing Blue Shield in a wrongful death lawsuit. She and her team filed a motion for summary judgment on the basis that the plaintiffs were not entitled to recover in this case because the decedent and his family lied about employment status and falsi-fied documents to fraudulently obtain coverage.
