After nearly a decade building a successful career in public accounting and finance, Katherine Rodriguez Orbach made a bold pivot that reflects both entrepreneurial spirit and business leadership when she co-founded a company rooted in joy, craftsmanship, and community: The Cozy Cookie Company, LLC, a minority owned and woman-owned specialty baking company based in La Cañada Flintridge.
From day one, Orbach has led with the resourcefulness and grit that define emerging women business leaders. In its first year, Cozy Cookie relied entirely on social media, grassroots outreach, and personal contact to build brand awareness and gather real-time customer feedback. Under Orbach’s business leadership, that early focus on proof of concept paid off. Momentum built quickly and continues to grow. As the customer base expanded, so did the menu, nearly doubling its offerings to now include specialty cookies, gluten-free options, edible cookie dough, and fudge.
Beyond direct-to-consumer sales, the business now serves special events, wedding venues and corporate clients.
Orbach’s entrepreneurial drive is deeply rooted in her family’s story. A first-generation American with family origins in Mexico, she grew up watching her parents build and scale a family-owned trucking business into one of the largest of its kind in Southern California. From a young age, she learned the realities of entrepreneurship and day-to-day operations; lessons that have been invaluable and that she has applied to growing her new business. Becoming a new mom further ignited an entrepreneurial passion to build a business of her own, with the hope that it will become a legacy for her children.
