2022 Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards: Outstanding Social Responsibility

Bank of America

As a longtime Los Angeles Regional Food Bank partner, Bank of America has continually demonstrated corporate and social responsibility. For example, Bank of America has shown its commitment to disadvantaged communities and public health through an innovative campaign that tackles both.

Bank of America kicked off the new year with a campaign to address hunger relief and community health needs by incentivizing its staff to get their COVID-19 booster shots by donating $100 for every booster shot to local food banks, including the LA Regional Food Bank, throughout January. This hunger relief initiative resulted in a $250,000 donation for the LA Regional Food Bank.

Over the years, Bank of America has provided nearly $1 million to alleviate hunger throughout LA County to help meet the high demands of food-insecure families. Bank of America team members have also come into volunteer at the Food Bank to help glean and package food for later distribution.

Bank of America has also donated more than one million pieces of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to local nonprofits and food banks across Los Angeles to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

As part of its commitment to strengthening communities by addressing critical needs that help advance racial equality and economic opportunity, Bank of America awarded $11 million to 175 local nonprofits across greater Los Angeles in 2021. The majority of the grants supported communities of color and other disadvantaged populations disproportionately impacted by the prolonged pandemic.

With a particular focus on closing the equity and wealth gaps in communities of color, Bank of America’s local giving was directed to alleviate the impacts of racial and economic inequality by funding programs and resources that create pathways to employment, address basic needs such as hunger, healthcare, emergency shelter and affordable housing.
