2022 Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards: Business Angel of the Year

Los Angeles Rams

The LA Rams’ commitment to Los Angeles Unified students has encouraged other professional teams to step up in a major way. The team’s repeated presence at underserved schools and donations to underserved youth has also inspired a generation of Angelenos and made a lifelong impact.

At the heart of the team’s community outreach efforts is a commitment to providing access, pushing for equality and social responsibility, and driving equity. Through various programs and initiatives, the Rams’ year-round efforts aim to address educational inequities though school engagement, racial inequities through education, community-police relations and youth justice through mentorship, homelessness, food insecurity and much more.

Through year-round school engagement, incentive campaigns, school beautification projects, funding college field trips and introducing STEAM labs, the Rams are doing their part to ensure a stronger public education system. The team also created the Rise with the Rams program designed to harness the unifying power of sports and build relationships between Los Angeles area high school football teams with a cross-section of races and socioeconomic backgrounds. The program has engaged nearly a dozen high school football teams to date.

To address issues of access for minority youth, the Rams hire students from various school districts as part of a summer internship program in partnership with LA Promise Fund. The students work in different departments throughout the organization. As part of the internship selection process, students submit their resumes and participate in professional interviews with team executives. The objective of the program is to expose students to opportunities in a professional setting, while expanding their skills, experiences, and network as they prepare for college or enter the workplace following high school or college graduation. The Rams have engaged more than 70 high school students through the internship program.
