Partner and U.S. Regional Divisional Leader
Michael Brophy is a partner in Withers’ trust, estate and inheritance disputes team and as of July 1, 2020, has been regional divisional leader of the firm’s US Private Client & Tax (PCT) division that consists of nearly 100 attorneys. Brophy has extensive experience representing prominent individuals, families, charities, corporate trustees, private professional fiduciaries and creditors in high-stakes litigation involving complex trusts and estates. His practice covers a broad range of complex matters including, among others, will and trust contests, accounting disputes, breach of duty actions, elder abuse and conservatorship disputes and other contested probate and fiduciary-related matters.
Brophy also has experience in business and commercial litigation, including contract, real estate, copyright, Lanham Act, trade secret, and unfair competition matters. In addition to litigation and trial work, his practice includes risk assessment and counseling, alternative dispute resolution, and administrative proceedings.
