A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit over whether “Happy Birthday to You” belongs in the public domain, the Los Angeles Times reports. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed, so the impact is not yet clear.
The trial, which was set to begin in Federal Court in Los Angeles next week, could have finally decided whether the lyrics belonged to a music publishing company, Warner/Chappell Music Inc., a division of Warner Music Group.
