Ten cities in L.A. County were named as finalists for the most business-friendly city award, the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. made the announcement on Thursday.
Two winners, one larger city and a smaller one, will be named at LAEDC’s award ceremony on Nov. 13. Bellflower, Glendale, Lakewood, Palmdale and Santa Clarita were finalists for the population 65,000 and over category. Artesia, El Segundo, Glendora, Pico Rivera and Vernon were finalists in the population under 65,000 category.
The LAEDC started its most business-friendly city awards in 2006 as a way to get cities to compete to be more welcoming to businesses. The finalists were selected based on several criteria such as competitive business taxes and fees, economic incentives and programs designed to help business entry, expansion and retention.
