LA500 2023: Letter From the Publisher

On behalf of the Los Angeles Business Journal editors, reporting staff and research department, it’s my privilege to unveil the 2023 edition of the LA500, now in its eighth year. Our team has, once again, taken on the challenging project of researching, identifying and highlighting the most influential, most powerful and most impactful business professionals in the Los Angeles region. This has become one of our favorite issues of the year, and one of the most rewarding. It’s our privilege to have the opportunity to learn about, and profile, such an amazing group of dynamic leaders who are driving innovation, creativity, community and industry.

Each year, these leaders are faced with new sets of challenges, and this past year was no exception. As the world began to recover from Covid-19, a new set of problem-solving skills was needed. Rather than focusing on productivity and culture while working from home, it was time to bring our teams back to the office and back to integrating into the communities. We’ve had to reinvent the workplace experience and have, collectively, had to rewrite our company’s expectations in a way that aligned with our clients’ needs and our teams’ desired cultures. Along with so many others, our 2023 class of LA500 leaders stepped up. We should all be proud of the way Angelenos have responded and the way our Community of Business™ has thrived.

I want to thank our internal team of talented individuals for their commitment to producing the Business Journal each week. Our team continues to ensure readers are always kept informed and connected. From the weekly editions, online products and in-person events (yes, we are back!), the staff at the Business Journal has continued to provide invaluable tools to our readers. I’m proud to work with such a dedicated group of media professionals who have all risen to meet the challenge. Many thanks to our leadership team of Editor-in-Chief Charles Crumpley, Creative and Production Director Nina Bays, Advertising Directors Ellen Mazen and Eva Juse, Chief Operating Officer Denise Kozlowski, Director of Events and Marketing Victoria Haney, Audience Development & Circulation Director Mikel Petrossian and Controller Amanda Koukol.

We hope that you enjoy learning about the remarkable professionals that we call the LA500!
