NINA HUERTA
Executive Committee Member and Managing Partner
Locke Lord LLP
In 2000, Nina Huerta moved to Los Angeles to pursue her legal education at USC and was the first in her immediate family to pursue law. She joined Locke Lord as a first-year associate and was elected to Partnership in January 2012. She was appointed office managing partner for Los Angeles in June 2016 and became one of the first Latinas to serve in this role for any major law firm. Huerta also serves on the firm’s Executive Committee. Huerta has been an instrumental part of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, where she assisted with the drafting and implementation of the firm’s Strategic Plan for Diversity and Inclusion, one of Locke Lord’s core values. Huerta has advanced the growth of the Los Angeles office as managing partner and she makes consistent efforts to see that diverse attorneys are provided fair opportunities to join the firm, grow their practices and advance to leadership levels.
She previously served as the Los Angeles office hiring partner. She is also a member of the Women’s Initiative, which she previously chaired. In 2016, Huerta stepped up to serve as president of the Mexican American Bar Foundation (MABF), the largest scholarship organization of its kind, having funded over $2 million in law school scholarships and bar stipends. MABF has experienced tremendous growth and success under Huerta’s guidance and has given more money to support Latino law students in the United States than any other non-university affiliated organization.
