THE LATEST: Betting on women’s leadership is working well for Lee, managing director of early stage venture capital firm BAM Ventures. This year, the firm invested in Rael Inc. — an all-women- led startup that holds the No. 1 spots for two feminine-care products on Amazon. Lee’s firm has also invested in travel luggage company Away.com Inc., which was founded by two women and received several innovation accolades in 2018 and 2019.

BACKGROUND: Lee co-founded BAM Ventures with Richard Jun in 2014. Experienced in internet entrepreneurship, Lee has started and led a number of businesses, including Honest Co. Inc., which he founded with Jessica Alba in 2012 to sell safe and responsible consumer goods. Lee served as Honest Co.’s chief executive until March 2017. His other ventures include ShoeDazzle.com Inc., a fashion subscription service he started in 2008 with Kim Kardashian, and online legal services firm LegalZoom.com Inc., which he co-founded in 2001.

WORTH NOTING: Lee started his career as an attorney with Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom and was also a manager at Deloitte & Touche.
