Nicki Carlsen is the co-chair of Alston & Bird’s Environment, Land Use & Natural Resources Group, a position she has held since 2008. In her time as co-chair, she has been instrumental in the expansion and growth of her team in the California marketplace. She is also an active participant in the firm’s Women’s Initiative committee and champions the advancement of women within her practice group and the firm.
Carlsen focuses the breadth of her practice on land use, environmental compliance, and litigation. With more than 25 years of land use and environmental experience, she is well versed in federal, state, and local regulations affecting development projects, including land use planning and subdivision laws, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), California Coastal Act, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Water Act, endangered species acts, and cultural resources requirements. Through her representation of industrial, residential, and commercial property owners, Carlsen can navigate a course of action from project inception to completion.
