Shane Smith is founder and chief executive of Vice Media, a global digital media and broadcasting company. Vice, launched in 1994 as a punk magazine in Canada, has expanded and diversified to become a multifaceted media company, operating an international network of digital channels, a TV production studio, a record label, an in-house creative services agency, a book-publishing house, and a feature film division. In 2007, Smith partnered with film director Spike Jonze to launch Vice’s Venice-based digital video production division. In 2013, Smith executive produced and hosted Emmy-nominated news series “Vice” on HBO.
