Kite Pharma, California Resources Among Week’s Big Movers

The Los Angeles Business Journal’s index of the largest local public companies fell slightly for the week. The weighted LABJ index fell less than 1 percent to close at 229, with losers outpacing gainers 95 to 55. Seven companies closed the week unchanged.

Among stocks trading above $1, Santa Monica’s Kite Pharma, a cancer drug developer, was one of the week’s leading gainers. Shares rose 12 percent to close at $65.06 on Friday after the company made a presentation on its work at the 2015 Jefferies Now at the Immuno-Oncology Summit in Boston.

Westwood oil giant California Resources Corp., also had a good week. Shares rose 13 percent to close at $9.47.

Long Beach-based Molina Healthcare Inc. was among the week’s losing stocks. Shares fell 6 percent to close the week at $62.96 after a major shareholder, company insider William Dentino, unloaded shares worth $3.9 million.
