Joe’s Jeans Makes License Deal for Belts

Joe’s Jeans Inc. said Tuesday that it has signed a license agreement with Vogue Trimmings Inc. to manufacture and distribute Joe’s branded belts for men, women, girls and boys.

The new line will debut in September at the tradeshows Project in Las Vegas and Coterie in New York, the Commerce company said.

Vogue Trimmings, founded by Frank Valensi, is a Los Angeles manufacturer of belts and decorative belt buckles for licensed brands and private labels sold in Macy’s, Nordstrom and other major retailers.

“Part of our commitment for 2009 has been to find licensees to extend the Joe’s product offerings and we believe we have found an excellent partner in Vogue Trimmings,” Chief Executive Marc Crossman said in a statement.

Joe’s Jeans last week reported that its second quarter profit fell 17 percent to $1.33 million due to the poor economy, but the designer denim maker said it expects accelerated growth in the second half of the year.

Shares were up 1 cent, or almost 2 percent, to 71 cents in midday trading on the Nasdaq.
