Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. on Tuesday said it received separate contracts to provide engineering and consulting services in California and in Georgia.

Pasadena-based Jacobs said it received a contract from a joint powers authority in Stanislaus County in central California to provide preliminary engineering and environmental services concerning 24 miles of a high-capacity roadway.

The JPA consists of the county; the cities of Modesto, Riverbank, and Oakdale; the Stanislaus Council of Governments and the California Department of Transportation. Officials did not disclose the contract value. The work is part of a $1 billion project and is expected to take about 20 years to complete.

For the Georgia contract, Jacobs will provide consulting services to the Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority. The authority is considering converting high-occupancy vehicle lanes to high-occupancy toll lanes in the metropolitan Atlanta area.

Officials did not disclose the contract value, but said the contract is for two years with an option to extend for two years.

Jacobs shares were up $2.04, or 4 percent, to $48.24 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
