Teledyne Reynolds Settles Contract Dispute

Teledyne Reynolds Inc. agreed Thursday to settle allegations that a company it acquired had fraudulently overbilled the U.S. Air Force. The L.A. defense contractor, which agreed to pay the government $825,000, did not admit any wrongdoing.

Teledyne Reynolds’ payment approximately twice the government’s losses settles allegations that the manufacturer of high-voltage connectors and cable products overbilled the Air Force for executive compensation costs. Federal guidelines limit the amount of executive compensation that can be charged as a cost on government contracts.

Representatives from Teledyne Reynolds did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

The excessive costs were charged to the government from 1999 to 2004, when the company was known as Reynolds Industries Inc. In 2004, Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies Inc. acquired the company and changed its name to Teledyne Reynolds.
