reported a third-quarter net loss of $17 million (40 cents per share), compared with income of $12.8 million (36 cents) for the same period a year earlier. Revenue for the L.A.-based online music service rose 94 percent to $23.5 million from $12.1 million in the year-prior period.


The company expects fourth-quarter revenue of approximately $25 million, while operating expenses are anticipated to decrease.


- Stamps.com Inc. reported fourth-quarter net income of $4.1 million (17 cents per share), compared with $1.5 million (6 cents) for the same period a year earlier. Revenue for the L.A.-based Internet-based postage provider rose 76 percent to $20.6 million from $11.7 million in the year-prior period.


The company expects full-year earnings of 53 cents to 63 cents per share on revenue of $75 million to $90 million. Excluding $3 million of stock-based compensation expense, adjusted full-year earnings are anticipated to be 65 cents to 75 cents per share.


- Earle M. Jorgensen Co. reported third-quarter net income of $18.2 million (35 cents per share), compared with $4.5 million (29 cents) for the same period a year earlier. Revenue for the Lynwood-based distributor of metal bar and tubular products rose 6.8 percent to $428.8 million from $401.7 million in the year-prior period.


The company expects fourth-quarter earnings to be 48 cents to 53 cents per share on revenue of $480 million to $500 million and full-year earnings of $1.65 to $1.70 per share on revenue of $1.77 billion to $1.79 billion.
