Housing Starts, Jobless Claims Fall

Housing starts fell 5.6 percent in October as construction of single-family and multifamily homes slid, while a drop in permits for future groundbreaking was the largest in more than six years, the government said on Thursday.


A separate report showed the number of U.S. workers filing for initial jobless aid fell sharply last week, pushing benefit applications to their lowest level since April.
