Patina Relocating to Disney Concert Hall

Restaurateur Joachim Splichal has extended his relationship with the Los Angeles Music Center by completing a deal to move his flagship Patina restaurant from its Hollywood home to Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Splichal said his Patina Group, a division of Charlotte, N.C.-based Compass Group North America, has signed a 20-year lease for the space, which is nearly twice the size of the Melrose Avenue restaurant. The 4,500 square foot venue will be able to seat 100 patrons indoors and another 30 in an 800-square-foot outdoor patio. The value of the lease was not disclosed.

Patina will have an entrance separate from that of the concert hall and will be open six days a week for lunch and dinner, regardless of the concert schedule, Splichal said. Patina’s menu will remain unchanged after the move, he said.

Though Disney Concert Hall officially opens Oct. 23, no date has been set for Patina’s move. The restaurant, which has consistently been rated among the best in the city, had revenues of $3.3 million in 2002, according to Splichal.

Its present location, at 5955 Melrose Ave., will house Patina Prive, a private party facility.

Patina Group operates a restaurant on the fifth floor of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Kendall’s Brasserie and Pinot Grill at the Music Center, and has had a deal to open a caf & #233; at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Patina Group has several other downtown venues, including Zucca Ristorante, Caf & #233; Pinot, Nick & Stef’s and a caf & #233; at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
