Signing On
As the exclusive licensed maker of miniature Hollywood signs, I can confirm Dan Turner’s opinion of the sign’s marketability in his piece on the Hollywood Chamber’s shift to Global Icons in Culver City (“New Licensing Deal for Hollywood a Sign of the Times,” April 26). Since I acquired the license three years ago, tourists and others have been buying my plastic replica all over town, and via my Web site. But one weighty correction for Mr. Turner: The Hollywood sign hasn’t been wooden since it was last refurbished in 1978. It’s now 450,000 pounds of steel!
