An increasing number of people are preparing to shop locally this holiday season – about 64 percent of Americans, says a Harris Poll commissioned by Yelp. And according to a new Yelp list, Burbank ranks as one of the “Top Places to Shop Local.”
Burbank, which is No. 8 on the list, was chosen as a result of reviews left by shoppers on Yelp.
The popularity of retailers in Burbank helped the city make the list, according to Los Angeles-based Yelp Community Director Katie Burbank.
“Most people associate Burbank with the studios, but there’s also a vibrant retail area lining Magnolia Boulevard, Olive Avenue and Victory Boulevard,” the community director said. “Parking is easy and (mostly) free. There are many stops along your shopping route to refuel with coffee or a snack, and it’s one of the city’s best spots to find vintage garb.”
Oakland was the only other city in California that made the list.
