Downtown developer Ratkovich Co. announced this week six new lease agreements at its building at 5900 Wilshire Blvd. on the Miracle Mile, boosting its occupancy rate north of 95 percent.
Many of the tenants are creative companies, including WatsonDG, which focuses on digital storytelling and Trademark Talent, which represents actors, writers and directors. Rounding out the list of new tenants in the landmark 32-story building across the street from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art: M&A consulting firm Phillip Roman & Company, search firm Glo Cap, cloud-based platform Vision Critical and marketing company MarketCast.
Clare De Briere, Ratkovich’s chief operating officer, said the amenities in the area, including LACMA – as well as the forthcoming Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Museum in the space formerly occupied by the old May Co. department store at Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue – are a big draw.
The building’s proximity to the Grove shopping center and new residential developments have made the location more attractive to companies that may have normally opted to move to Santa Monica, according to De Briere.
“There’s no place in Santa Monica where you can find that,” De Briere said. “You just can’t find that density of cultural amenities in one place.”
Other businesses, including the Sundance Institute, have also recently relocated from neighboring Beverly Hills to 5900 Wilshire, De Briere said.
