The Dow Jones industrial average was up 224 points in trading Tuesday to close at 17,749.

The S&P 500 was up 30 points to 2,073.

The Nasdaq was up 67 points to 4,664.

The LABJ Stock Index was up three points to 242.

Trio-Tech International, a business group with interests in semiconductor testing services, manufacturing and real estate, was Wednesday’s biggest local gainer among stocks trading above $1. Shares of the company rose 13 percent to close at $3.25.

Wednesday’s biggest loser, among stocks trading above $1, was California Resources Corp., an oil and gas production company. Shares of the company fell 14 percent to close at $2.25.
