State Senators to Propose Changes to Vaccination Law

As the number of measles cases in California nears 100, two state senators – Dr. Richard Pan, a pediatrician who represents Sacramento, and Ben Allen, the former president of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District – are expected to announce legislation later today to change the current immunization requirements in schools, the Daily News reports. They would not say in advance what changes their bill proposes, but it would alter the current law which allows parents to skip vaccinating their children under what is called a personal belief exemption.
