With critics calling for his resignation, Michael Peevey, the president of the California Public Utilities Commission, announced Thursday that he would not seek reappointment when his term expires at the end of the year, the Sacramento Bee reports. Peevey has been under fire over apparently cozy relationship with Pacific Gas and Electric Co., evidenced by recently-revealed emails between Peevey and company executives, in addition to the fatal explosion in 2010 of a natural gas pipeline in San Bruno that has been blamed in part on PUC negligence.
