UCLA HEALTH’S DAVID MORGAN CHAIRS 2026 LOS ANGELES HEART WALK, CHAMPIONING CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH AND LIFESAVING SKILLS
David Morgan, chief operating officer of UCLA West Valley Medical Center, is chairing the 2026 Los Angeles Heart Walk, leading efforts to engage people and organizations in creating a community of lifesavers and advancing heart and brain health for all.
Morgan’s connection to the American Heart Association is rooted in both family loss and a recent health scare. His father survived two strokes before passing away from a heart attack, which inspired his commitment to the organization’s mission. Earlier this year, that mission became even more meaningful when Morgan experienced a serious cardiac event.
In April, he woke up severely dizzy and unable to raise his heart rate above 35 beats per minute. He sought immediate medical care and underwent an emergency procedure to receive a pacemaker. Although he has long maintained a healthy lifestyle, Morgan knew heart disease ran in his family.
“My connection to this cause has always been personal because of my father,” Morgan said. “After my own experience, I have an even greater appreciation for the importance of awareness, early action and lifesaving care.”
As Heart Walk chair, Morgan is focused on expanding community participation and encouraging employers to invest in cardiovascular health and CPR education. He believes organizations can help build a culture of health and preparedness that extends beyond the workplace into the communities they serve.
The 2026 Los Angeles Heart Walk will take place Oct. 3 at the Rose Bowl Stadium, bringing together companies, survivors, families and community members to support research, education and prevention efforts to reduce the impact of the nation’s leading killers, heart disease and stroke.
