The Multi-Ethnic Coalition called on major Hollywood studios to do a better job of representing America’s diversity at a news conference in Pasadena Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The coalition’s initiative for diversity at film studios follows the #OscarsSoWhite uproar and dearth of nominations for actors of color. Coalition members said they planned to meet with major movie studios in an effort to boost the number of minorities working at all levels of the film business.

The representatives, however, pointed out more steps were needed to address the problem, saying meaningful change needs to occur within the executive suites of studios, where decisions are made on what films are greenlighted.
