Markets Close Higher

In Friday trading, the Dow Jones industrial average closed up 49 points to 13,993.

The Nasdaq rose 29 points, or 1 percent, to 3,194.

The S&P 500 rose 9 points to 1,518.

The LABJ Stock Index rose more than 1 point, or 1.5 percent, to 147.
