Los Angeles Football Club unveiled its colors and logo on Thursday, as well as a roster of owners that includes comedian Will Ferrell, reports ESPN.
The team is part of Major League Soccer’s expansion plans and is scheduled to begin playing in 2018 in a new 22,000-seat soccer stadium on the site of the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.
“This is not a joke,” Ferrell said at a press conference held at Union Station. “I’m actually a member of this fine ownership group.”
Other members of the team’s 25-person ownership group include Malaysian billionaire Vincent Tan, venture capitalist Henry Nguyen, Riot Games co-founder and Chief Executive Brandon Beck, former soccer player Mia Hamm and Los Angeles Lakers great Magic Johnson.
