LAUSD to Send Hundreds of Layoff Notices

Los Angeles Unified’s Board of Education has voted to send layoff letters to about 600 teachers this month, citing state budget cuts, the Los Angeles Times reports. School officials say not all of the teachers will necessarily lose their jobs, but it allows LAUSD the option of laying them off if need be.
