The Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law this month announced the creation of the Quattrone Wrongful Convictions Appellate Clinic.
The program is made possible through a donation from Frank Quattrone and wife Denise Foderaro. Quattrone is a prominent investment banker whose widely publicized federal conviction for obstruction of justice was overturned on appeal. The clinic will be hosted within the Ken Starr Institute for Faith, Law and Public Service.
“The Quattrone Wrongful Convictions Appellate Clinic honors Judge Ken Starr’s enduring legacy by equipping Caruso School of Law students with real-world experience in appellate advocacy,” said Pepperdine President Jim Gash in a statement.
Starr – who previously served as the Caruso School’s president and is known for his investigation against Bill Clinton for his affair with Monica Lewinsky and as a part of Donald Trump’s defense team during his first impeachment – had advised Quattrone’s attorneys during the appeal process.
“The experience also opened our eyes to the plight of thousands of innocent people in prison without resources to fight the system, and we vowed to do something about it,” Quattrone said.
The clinic will enroll its first student cohort in the spring semester.

Heads up: you may be seeing air taxis in your near future.
The Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission this month named San Jose-based Archer, a vertical take-off and landing aircraft company, as its official air taxi partner. The company is expected to deploy its air taxis during the 2026 FIFA World Cup games in L.A. as well as during the 2027 Super Bowl.
These deployments are expected to inform planning for the substantially more robust 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in L.A.
“With so many iconic events on the horizon, we’re proud to partner with Archer to highlight the future of urban air mobility and the unique experience it can provide for visitors to Los Angeles,” said Kathryn Schloessman, president and chief executive of the L.A. Sports & Entertainment Commission.
