Wow air said it plans to add flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco from its base in Iceland starting next summer.
The airline, known for one-way tickets to Europe as low as $99, said flights to Los Angeles will be available four days a week while flights to San Francisco will be available five days. After a layover in Iceland, passengers will be able to continue flying Wow air to Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Dublin, London, Paris and Stockholm. Flights to Iceland from the West Coast usually take 8 ½ hours, according to the airline.
Wow said it could not confirm which airports in Los Angeles or San Francisco it will be flying out of. Tickets for flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco will go on sale in January when prices will be announced.
The low-price airline this year began offering flights between Europe and Boston and Baltimore/Washington, D.C. In May, Wow air said it planned to add Toronto and Montreal. Wow began operations in 2011.
In separate news, Alaska Airlines last weekend announced it began service from Los Angeles International Airport to Costa Rica’s major airports in San Jose and Liberia/Guanacaste with eight weekly flights.
