Jobless claims nationwide unexpectedly rose last week, but the total number of people actually receiving unemployment benefits is the lowest it’s been since December 2000, CNBC reports. The number of people still getting benefits after one week of aid fell 40,000 to 2.27 million for the week ending April 4, according to the Labor Department.
