Edmunds.com Opens Massive New Headquarters

Car shopping website Edmunds.com Inc. moved into a new 143,000-square-foot headquarters at the Colorado Center in Santa Monica on Tuesday.

The so-called EdQuarters space will house the company’s more than 700 employees. It is located at Colorado Boulevard and Cloverfield Boulevard.

Edmunds.com, which got its start in 1995, was an early mover in the car buying information industry. Before launching online, the company started in 1966 as publisher of print car buying guides. The site now competes with a litany of car buying information websites, such as Santa Monica’s TrueCar, a website that uses algorithms to provide price ranges for cars.

In a pitch to attract and keep the region’s best tech talent, Edmunds.com has filled its new headquarters with various perks and accessories, including a Foosball table, frozen yogurt machine, and a 1948 Cadillac Fleetwood re-purposed into a beer and coffee bar.

The facility was designed by M+M Creative Studio of Las Vegas. Other features in the headquarters include the installation of 1966 and 2016 Corvettes set wheel-to-wheel and rotating above the reception area; two floors connected by a 32-foot stainless steel slide; and two 600 gallon saltwater fish tanks that will be home to 160 fish.
