Comic-Con and Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. announced Monday that their subscription video on-demand service, Comic-Con HQ, will roll out in time for the giant San Diego pop culture festival in July.
The two companies first unveiled plans in April 2015 for the ad-free service which will include a slate of programming focused on film, TV and comic book titles.
According to Mashable, the Santa Monica production studio and Comic Con International in San Diego said subscribers will get free beta access to the service beginning on May 7, with an official launch scheduled for some time in June. The cost of the service will be announced shortly before beta access opens.
Original programming will include a scripted comedy series called “Kings of Con,” “Her Universe,” a behind-the-scenes look at a fashion design competition for the San Diego Comic-Con’s cosplay fashion show, and two roundtable discussion shows.
